PDA. Rest House & Trousim

PDA & Tourism

Rawalakot is the Headquarters of District Poonch as well as Divisional Headquarters of Districts Poonch, Sudhnuti and Bagh.  It is located at a distance of 111 Km. from Muzaffarabad and 110 Km. from Islamabad.  Presently one can travel from Islamabad to Rawalakot within 2-3 hours however with the widening of Goin Nallah Road there will be a time saving of One hour and the travel time shall be reduced to 02 hours. It will boost the tourism. 

 

The town is centrally located in Rawalakot valley (the Pearl Valley)  at an elevation of about 5500 ft. from sea level.  Rawalakot town is surrounded by green hills. Owing to its excellent scenic beauty and panoramic views the area has a great potential for tourism development. 

 

Sequel to earthquake of October 2005 the firm NESPAK explored the beauty of the area and had recommended to develop this city as a tourist resort.  As a consequence the ERRA & Govt. of AJK  have decided to develop this city as a tourist resort.  PDA besides focusing on urban development strives to develop the tourism.  Most of the proposed link roads are approaching the view points of the valley.  Main links connecting the adjoining areas regulate the Urban development in the town. The PDA has constructed about 44 link roads which provide access to most of the areas worthy of tourism attraction.

 

PDA Rest House

Rawalakot the establishment of PDA there was no Rest House in Private Sector.  The Authority introduced Rest Houses and now more than a dozen Rest Houses are providing housing facilities to the tourists. 

After the earthquake of October 2005 the tourism has boost to a reasonable extent and it is the need of the hour that more housing facilities may be provided by construction of new Rest Houses.

 

The PDA had been operating a Rest House at Bye Pass Road Rawalakot which was established in a rented building.  Now it has been proposed that a new own building for the purpose be constructed.  The Authority has a piece of land for this purpose and soon a PC-I shall be submitted for approval.  This Rest House shall be constructed from the savings of the Authority. It is expected that with the completion of this project the Authority will generate a sum of Rs.2.000 million annually.
